Cable tray wire, also referred to as tray cable, is approved for installation in cable trays and raceways and is designed to withstand demanding mechanical conditions. It typically consists of insulated conductors protected by an outer jacket that resists abrasion and physical stress. Because tray cable is built to meet crush and impact requirements, it may be used in installations where conduit is not always required, depending on the application and code requirements. Many tray cable options are suitable for indoor and outdoor use, including installations in hazardous or corrosive environments.

MTW wire and THHN wire each serve important roles in electrical systems. MTW wire, or Machine Tool Wire, uses stranded bare copper conductors with PVC insulation to provide flexibility for routing in tight spaces such as electrical cabinets and control panels. It is resistant to moisture, oil, heat, gasoline, and corrosion, with ratings up to 600 volts and 105 degrees Celsius. THHN wire, or Thermoplastic High Heat-resistant Nylon wire, is commonly used as building wire and may be supplied with stranded or solid copper or aluminum conductors. It features thermoplastic insulation with a nylon jacket and is rated up to 600 volts, 90 degrees Celsius in dry locations, and 75 degrees Celsius in wet locations.
