[0m:4s] Hi I'm Josh Bloom, welcome to another video in the RSP Supply education series. If you find that these videos are helpful to you, it certainly helps us out if you could give us a big thumbs up and subscribe to our channel.
[0m:16s] In today's video, we are excited to announce a new series of RSP videos in which we will focus on some of the various types of communication standards and protocols that are commonly used in industrial applications today, but that are also commonly used in commercial, residential, and enterprise level applications as well. In this series, we hope to provide some general knowledge for many of the different types of communication methods that are most common, and also to help provide a basic level of understanding for how these different protocols function and what types of applications we might see these different standards and protocols being used in.
[0m:59s] Some of the topics we plan to discuss in these videos will include:
[1m:3s] detailed information about serial communication, how it works, and then what types of applications do we see it being used in.
[1m:11s] To go along with that discussion, we can look forward to videos talking about some of the most common communication standards and protocols in serial communication, such as RS 232, RS 45 and how they function as well as other types of serial standards such as Profibus, 422, and USB.
[1m:34s] Hopefully by the end of the series, you are confident in your understanding of all the most common serial communication standards.
[1m:43s] We also plan to talk about Ethernet based industrial protocols, such as TCP IP, Ethernet IP, Modbus TCP, and Profinet.
[1m:53s] While these protocols can be more complex and difficult to understand, we hope to shed some light on how these protocols function.
[2m:1s] And in what types of situations we might see them being used in,
[2m:5s] so that you might better understand how these more modern communication methods work in the various applications you might find them being used in. We will also briefly discuss methods in which you might convert one type of communication method to another.
[2m:23s] For instance, how we might convert a serial based protocol to something like Ethernet IP.
[2m:30s] In what scenarios you might encounter this type of situation.
[2m:35s] We look forward to your participation in this series and hope it will be helpful for you in whatever situation you might find yourself in. As always, we welcome your feedback and suggestions, and hope you enjoy the content coming in this series. To kick things off in our first video, we will talk about the basics of serial communication to help lay the groundwork for more of our upcoming videos in this series. So, make sure to tune in for that video coming very soon.
